Belted Kingfisher – Rocky Landing

I was supposed to go to Lowes to return a couple of items I bought earlier in the week. But I forgot to bring them with me. You know what I didn’t forget? That’s right, my cameras. So instead of going home and getting what I was supposed to return, I headed down to the bay.

As I was driving along the bay shore, I heard the chatter of Kingfishers. I pulled my truck over and parked. I looked around and saw a pair of Kingfishers chasing each other. I got out of the truck and worked my way to the edge of the bay, weaving through the reeds. When I got to where I needed to be, I reached my camera forward to give me a window to shoot through. In doing that, I leaned a little to forward and my foot slipped inside my shoe. I almost fell into the bay. The good thing is I didn’t fall in, but I thought the noise I made keeping myself upright would have scared the Kingfishers away. It did not.
